When Build Club met Groq

Two weeks ago, Build Club teamed up with Groq in the Build Together 24h Hackathon where we saw 400+ top AI builders around the world come together to hack on problems at the forefront of AI.

The collaboration

In the hackathon, teams built applications for real world use cases ranging from learning and education tools to the legal industry.

Participants utilized Groq's powerful technology to develop a variety of AI-driven applications, demonstrating the potential and versatility of Groq in the AI ecosystem.

Groq also hosted workshops, provided discounted rates and helped fuel our builders during the sprint.

Summary and outcomes

Participants came from various locations including San Francisco, Melbourne, Singapore, Canberra, Sydney, and Perth, showcasing the global interest and reach of the event.

🤖 Top Use Cases for Groq powered Apps

We saw creations built across over 9 industries, the most popular categories which took off for Groq builds were:

AI-Powered Learning and Education Tools Projects focused on enhancing the learning experience through AI. Examples include generating personalized coding challenges, creating educational quizzes, and providing AI-driven study aids for medical students.

Legal Advisory Tools Projects in this category utilized AI to provide legal advice and support. A notable example is Alexei Brown's Law AI, which offers logically constructed legal advice for trademark law using Groq's API.

Healthcare and Research Applications These projects leveraged AI to support healthcare professionals and researchers. Axel Solano’s project is an AI application that aids medical students with their studies and research through advanced AI techniques.

Crisis Reporting and Management Systems Projects aimed at improving public safety by enabling quick and efficient reporting of incidents and crimes. The Batman project is a standout, allowing users to report incidents in seconds using audio transcription and large language models (LLMs).

Personal Assistance and Mental Health Support These projects focused on providing mental health support and personal assistance using AI. For instance, Wanot AI offers crisis support for users by leveraging various AI models.

Creative and Entertainment Applications Projects in this category focused on providing entertainment and creative solutions through AI. An example is the Cards AIgainst Humanity project, which generates infinite theme-based decks of Cards Against Humanity.

🤝 The ‘Gen AI’ tech stack with Groq

But it wasn’t just Groq they were using. Builders cross-combined Groq with multiple other devtools to get amazing results (fast and cheap).

Here are a few highlights:

Supabase is an open-source Firebase alternative that provides backend services such as authentication, database, and storage. It was used in conjunction with Groq to enhance data handling and real-time capabilities.

• ChefMe.ai: From ingredients to meals in minutes, ChefMe.ai generates meal ideas by snapping a photo of your fridge or pantry.

• CodeButter: Automatically generated and personalized coding challenges.

• Whispers: An assistant that explains speech from speakers and shows its correctness to the audience.

Vercel is a cloud platform for static sites and serverless functions. It was used to deploy front-end applications and provide seamless, fast web experiences.

• here-to-help.ai: AI for crisis support workers, providing real-time assistance.

• Team 442: Help developers understand and navigate complex codebases visually using AI.

• Wanot.AI: AI Roleplay platform offering customized open-sourced LLM built for roleplaying.

Relevance AI Relevance AI focuses on improving the relevance of AI models and data processing. It was used to enhance AI models with more accurate and context-aware capabilities.

• Newtify: Personalized newsletter that cuts through information overload.

• git push: AltruismAI helps charities and fundraisers to reach their goals with the help of AI.

Gemini Gemini is an AI platform that provides various tools for building and deploying AI models. It was used to enhance the functionality and accuracy of AI solutions.
