Hackathon Spotlight: Here to Help AI

Build Together Hackathon Spotlight ✨

Introducing Here to Help AI, the winner of our 2024 Build Together Hackathon

Overview

HereToHelp.ai steps in to augment the capabilities of crisis support workers, offering a suite of tools 🔧 designed to enhance their performance and well-being.

In the high-stress world of crisis support, workers are under immense emotional and cognitive pressure. The demanding nature of their interactions often compromises their ability to provide meaningful, empathetic assistance. Even the most experienced support workers can be overwhelmed by the sheer volume and intensity of crisis situations, leading to burnout and reduced effectiveness.

This innovative solution provides:

  1. Real-time transcription and analysis: allowing crisis workers to focus entirely on the caller without the distraction of note-taking

  2. Contextual suggestions and insights: ensures that critical cues are not missed during conversation

  3. Emotional and cognitive support: allowing them to perform their role with greater confidence and less stress

The dream team 🤝

The creative minds behind HereToHelp.ai are Jeffrey Tan, Rakshith Ramprakash, Sahil Kumar, and Jordan Moshcovitis 🌟. This talented team brought together their diverse skills and experiences to address a critical issue faced by crisis support workers.

How they built It 🛠

HereToHelp.ai was born from the personal experience of one team member who knew a crisis support worker.

Their initial concept was validated through insights gathered from call center agents, ensuring their solution addressed real-world needs💡.

With their team constrained by only 8 hours due to prior commitments, they opted for NextJS for its integrated frontend and backend capabilities.

For the backend, they developed a pipeline using OpenAI API function calls to clean, chunk, and process transcripts to generate the analysis seen on the app.

The frontend was designed in Figma and implemented using React, TypeScript, and Tailwind to create a user-friendly dashboard displaying real-time analysis for call center operators.

Post-hackathon, the team decided to re-architect the project to seamlessly integrate with call center software, leveraging ElectronJS for a desktop companion app. Their goal is to stream audio input and output to a backend API, and enable real-time analysis via WebSockets.

Stay tuned as HereToHelp.ai continues to evolve, promising to make a significant impact in the world of crisis support ☎️. Their dedication and innovative approach offer a glimpse into a future where technology and empathy work hand in hand to support those who support others 🤝.
