When Build Club met Gemini

Three weeks ago, Build Club teamed up with Gemini in the Build Together 24h Hackathon where we saw 400+ top AI builders around the world come together to hack on problems at the forefront of AI.

The collaboration

In the hackathon, teams built applications for real world use cases ranging from learning and education tools to the legal industry.

Participants utilized Gemini powerful technology to develop a variety of AI-driven applications, demonstrating the potential and versatility of Gemini in the AI ecosystem.

Summary and outcomes

Participants came from various locations including San Francisco, Melbourne, Singapore, Canberra, Sydney, and Perth, showcasing the global interest and reach of the event.

🤖 Top Use Cases for Gemini powered Apps

We saw creations built across over 9 industries, the most popular categories which took off for Gemini builds were:

Travel and Tourism: Multiple teams developed applications aimed at enhancing travel experiences by integrating AI with web3 to promote local tourist spots. For example, Code Shredders built a travel assistant that uses AI and web3 to highlight local attractions and integrate with travel planning platforms. This project demonstrates the potential of AI in transforming the tourism industry by providing personalized and efficient travel experiences.

Productivity and Scheduling: Several tools were created to streamline calendars and manage schedules effectively. Build It created Calendarium, an AI-powered calendar that learns and adapts to user habits, optimizing schedules and productivity. This project illustrates how AI can improve daily productivity by making schedule management smarter and more intuitive.

Entertainment: AI-driven games and interactive experiences were popular categories. Cards AIgainst Humanity developed an interactive game where AI generates fun and engaging questions and answers, showcasing the creative potential of AI in entertainment. This project highlights how AI can be used to create unique and engaging user experiences in the entertainment industry.

Healthcare: Improving patient care and managing health data through AI was a focus for several teams. Central AI developed a healthcare assistant tool that helps manage patient data and enhance care quality, demonstrating the impact of AI on the healthcare industry. This project shows how AI can be used to improve healthcare outcomes by providing better management and analysis of patient data.

E-commerce: Innovations aimed at enhancing shopping experiences and customer interactions with AI were also showcased. AiNoobs built a tool that generates code snippets from user-uploaded audio descriptions, simplifying the coding process and making it more accessible. This project underscores the potential of AI to streamline and enhance various aspects of the e-commerce industry.

🤝 The ‘Gen AI’ tech stack with Gemini

But it wasn’t just Gemini they were using. Builders cross-combined Gemini with multiple other devtools to get amazing results.

Here are a few highlights:

Participants used Gemini in conjunction with various other technologies to enhance their projects. For example, Build It used Gemini alongside RelevanceAI to create Calendarium, an adaptive calendar. RelevanceAI is a platform that offers advanced AI tools and integrations to enhance data relevance and decision-making processes.

Batman leveraged Vercel for their AI-driven scheduling assistant. Vercel is a cloud platform for static sites and serverless functions that enables developers to deploy websites and applications that are fast and scalable.

These collaborations highlight the versatility and integration capabilities of Gemini, making it a powerful tool for AI development.
