Build Club expands permanently to Melbourne with TSL and announces first Victoria residency for 15 AI founders

Today, we are thrilled to announce Build Club’s second permanent residency for AI builders and founders, now expanding to Melbourne, Australia. This new location follows the successful launch of our first permanent coworking space in Sydney just a few months ago.

A look inside the space

Build club has received 15 coworking stations from Tank Stream Labs to use fortnightly in their recently launched Melbourne Office, situated at 440 Collins St. Tank Stream Labs (TSL) “is the go-to coworking community, private office solutions and business services provider for startups, scaleups and SMEs.”

They focus on enabling “businesses to grow, evolve and succeed together and provide like-minded entrepreneurs with a curated tech-agnostic community.”

Unlike the other Melbourne coworking sessions, which are and will remain open to anyone who is interested in getting involved in the community, those who receive the desks will be decided through a competitive application process for a 3 month pilot program.

The sessions will work more similarly to a standard working day, rather than the more laid-back, networking oriented sessions that are the Monthly Friday and Saturday sessions.

This program will require applicants to commit to coming in fortnightly on the set weekday (exact day TBD) to ensure accountability and maximum benefit for the successful applicants.

Xavier Andueza, Melbourne’s City Lead (along with Chris Rickard, Sam Chandra and Jack Byrnes) hopes “that this ongoing space lets us accelerate the growth of the successful applicants. We’re hoping to get some of Melbourne’s best and brightest in AI and startups to participate in the pilot, continuing on with the ethos of our existing coworking sessions that we work better alongside - and can always learn lots from - each other.

Annie Liao, Build Club founder is “excited for the pilot,” stating that the “Sydney coworking has been going so well and I am stoked that we now have the support to bring this to Melbourne - it’s going to be a home for AI builders and center of excellence for AI adoption and learning. Excited to see what Xavier and our Melbourne squad bring to this.”

The team has been working with Ethan Smith (CCO) and Nora Laberg (Head of Marketing), from Tank Stream Labs to bring this partnership to life. We can’t thank Tank Stream Labs enough for them providing us with such a fantastic space.

Applications to be selected as one of the lucky first 15 participants are open today. Interested parties can fill in this form, and can expect to hear back on their application by Sunday 17th November.

Applicants will be judged on the following criteria:

  1. Stage of their startup, with a greater emphasis placed on those further along in their journey

  2. Positive attitude and willingness to give back to the Build Club community

  3. Unique skill set (so that other members can benefit from the water cooler, lunch, and coffee chats!)

If you have any questions on the application process, or the space, please do not hesitate to contact Xavier Andueza, Build Club’s Melbourne Co-City Lead.
